Free COVID-19 screening available for employees who need to be at office. Costs to be borne by Socso

The free screening will be available from October 22 onwards

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan says that employers in newly-imposed Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) areas can arrange for free COVID-19 testing for workers, with all costs borne by Social Security Organisation (Socso). Employers can apply for the free swab tests under Program Saringan Prihatin from Oct 22 onwards, but must fill and submit this form beforehand.

Socso has designated 14 clinics where free testing is available, with four located in Kuala Lumpur, six in Selangor, two in Sabah, and two in Kedah.

All tests must be scheduled through appointments in order to avoid long queues that may spark potential spread of COVID-19. You can view the list of service panels were testing is free below.

Subsidi Saringan Prihatin

If employers would like employees to be tested elsewhere outside the 14 designated clinics, they can instead opt for the Subsidi Saringan Prihatin, in which Socso will subsidize up to RM150 for screening tests.

The extension of the free screening programme by Socso to CMCO areas comes after Senior Minister Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the mandatory work from home guidelines in areas under CMCO, which only allow 10% of employees in industrial and public sectors involved in account, finance, government, law, planning, and ICT to work at office.

As of October 23rd, Selangor, Sabah, Putrajaya, Labuan, and Kuala Lumpur are under CMCO.
