Japan is finally opening its border this June 2022, but can Malaysians travel to Japan?
Many Malaysians are still wondering when they can travel to Japan. After 2 years of adopting the strictest pandemic border measures, the Japanese government has finally decided to ease its control of borders for tourists. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced last May 5th that they are finally reopening its border to travellers!
However, only selected tourist groups are currently allowed to enter Japan such as residents, people who travel for business purposes, foreign students, spouses and children of Japanese nationals, and those with Long Term Resident status are allowed to enter Japan.
Latest update: Japan will accept triple vaccinated visitors from Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and the United States. The Japan Tourism Agency will work with other travel agencies who are conducting the tourist groups, they will have to follow fixed itineraries.
Currently, Japan only allows 10,000 visitors daily. Japan hopes to ease the border controls in stages, Japan will further relax the controls so that visitors can enter smoothly like other G7 countries. Hopefully, they will increase the quota and accepts travellers from all over the world including Malaysians very soon!
