Malaysians can now travel to Vietnam without quarantine!

Vietnam reopens borders for International tourists!

Vietnam has reopened its border to tourists including Malaysians! Good news to all those who are interested in travelling there this year! You will now be able to travel to Vietnam without going through the process of quarantine when entering as Vietnam has started enforcing the opening of its border to tourists. If you are travelling for less than 30 days, you will not need a Visa to enter.

What do Malaysians need to know before travelling to Vietnam?

Only fully-vaccinated Malaysians both adults and children aged 12 years and above are allowed to enter Vietnam. You will have to show proof of vaccination at least 14 days after your second dose but not more than 6 months. If your second dose has exceeded 6 months, you will need to get a booster shot before coming to Vietnam.

Are unvaccinated travellers allowed to enter Vietnam? Sadly, no.

For those Malaysians who have recovered from COVID-19 within the past 6 months, you will also need to show proof that you have fully recovered.

Before travelling, you will have to take a COVID-19 PCR Test (72 hours prior) or Rapid Test (24 hours prior) and provide a negative result. Upon arrival, you will have to take a Rapid Test and self-quarantine (shouldn’t be too long!) while waiting for your results.

Great news! Travellers no longer needed to undergo quarantine once arrived in Vietnam and when you are back in Malaysia (beginning 1st April). Wohoooo! Only a PCR Test is needed 2 days before coming back to Malaysia and RTK Test 24 hours upon arrival, both should provide negative results.

You will need to download a Health Monitoring App during your visit in Vietnam and take a COVID-19 Travel Insurance which covers a minimum of USD10,000.
